SURVIVING AFTER SUICIDE: A Conference For Those Who Have Lost Someone To Suicide
The Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (GPAFSP), and Survivors of Suicide of the Delaware Valley (SOS), will host their biannual conference for those bereaved by suicide. This conference will take place from 9:00am - 4:00, at 3535 Market Street (northeast corner of 36th and Market), 16th floor, in Philadelphia. Registration fees are $35 per guest. Lunch is included This conference is designed to help survivors of suicide express and understand the troubling and powerful grief, stigma, pain and guilt they experience. Highlights will include break-out groups for those who have lost a child, parent, spouse/partner, sibling, friend, other family member and for those who have suffered multiple losses in one family. There will also be a group for professionals who work with the bereaved (educators, mental health, clergy, etc.). The exhibit "Lending A Helping Hand" will feature the different things that have been helpful to those in their grieving process. A Social Worker, Psychologist and Psychiatrist will speak about survivor depression, anger and guilt, during the panel discussion "The Doctor Is In."
